Official Consolidated Container Service China – Vietnam
1. What is official consolidated container shipping?
Official consolidated container shipping is a solution for businesses that want to import goods from China to Vietnam via formal customs clearance but don’t have enough cargo for a full container. Your shipment can be grouped with other consignments heading to the same destination to fill the container, making pickup and delivery more convenient. This approach helps businesses optimize costs while ensuring cargo quality and legal compliance.
2. Advantages of official consolidated container shipping
– Legal assurance for goods: Formal import/export requires a complete sales contract binding the buyer and seller under agreements signed (or committed) between countries, or between a country and regional/international organizations and associations, in accordance with international practices. This ensures the shipment’s legality and prevents it from being inspected or seized by authorities for lack of origin.
– Maximum cargo safety: With modern warehouses and equipment at both ends, goods are loaded into containers in China and unloaded upon arrival in Vietnam without any intermediary steps. This minimizes impact on the goods, preventing breakage or loss of components—especially for bulky items or products with many accessories.
– Lower transportation costs: Instead of bearing the entire shipping cost alone, with official consolidation the freight is proportionally shared among all shippers. Each party is responsible for terms and payment obligations. This helps business owners save on costs.
– Fast delivery times: Goods shipped via formal customs clearance typically avoid border congestion, with quick and stable transit. On average, delivery to Vietnam takes 3–5 days.
3. Disadvantages of consolidated container shipping
– If the cargo volume is not enough to fill a container, transit time may extend to 8–10 days due to waiting for full consolidation.
4. Cost components for official consolidated container shipping
Total Legal Transport Cost = A. Entrusted import/export fee + B. Base shipping fee + C. Import duty (if any) and VAT + D. Specialized inspection fees (if any) + E. Storage surcharges (if any)
Details of each fee:
A. Entrusted import/export fee
- Consolidated cargo: 500,000 VND / item category

- This fee applies when you use Viet Trung Company’s entrustment service, so you don’t need to declare under your own name on the customs form.
B. Base shipping fee
Depends on weight (kg) or volume (m³) and the shipping route. Sample reference rates below:
Base shipping rates for light cargo (calculated per m³)
Shipping rates for heavy cargo (calculated per kg)

- Import duty: 0–30% depending on product type (Import/export tariff and product policies will be advised in detail by our customer support staff)

Vehicle type | Corresponding cubic meters | Surcharge |
17M | 140 – 145 m³ | 2,000 CNY / truck |

Example cost calculation for a specific shipment
You have a 1-ton apparel shipment from Guangzhou to Hanoi, no specialized inspection, with C/O Form E:
– Entrusted import/export fee: 500,000 VND
– Shipping: 10,000 VND/kg × 1,000 kg = 10,000,000 VND
– Import duty: 0% (exempted thanks to C/O Form E)
– VAT: 8% × shipment value (e.g., 50 million VND) = 4,000,000 VND
– Estimated total cost: 500,000 + 10,000,000 + 4,000,000 = 14,500,000 VND
